Adobe Photoshop CS4 11.0.1 Information
If you use images to communicate or gather and analyze information, then download the new Adobe Photoshop software and experience the power first-hand. Whether you re simply retouching or optimizing an image or building complex composites or animations, you’ll have the power and precision you need for superior results.

Adobe Photoshop CS4 11.0.1 Review
PC users often upgrade their hardware to get the most out of new games. Many Mac users, on the other hand, view Photoshop as the litmus test for hardware performance. While technically an image editor, this program contains an endless selection of drawing tools, filters, color adjustment capabilities, and other tools designed to manipulate images in almost any way. Photoshop incorporates raster and vector drawing tools, allowing you to work with bitmap images and scalable graphics at the same time.

Though it’s an excellent software tool, the trial version demands a lot of time to download, a lot of hard drive space, and a lot of RAM for rendering and other heavy tasks. In addition, the trial version is save-, print-, and export-disabled, which limits your ability to assess this expensive product. Photoshop also has a high learning curve, so great results take time and training.

VLC Media Player 0.9.9a Information
VLC media player is a highly portable multimedia player for various audio and video formats (MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX, mp3, ogg, …) as well as DVDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols. It can also be used as a server to stream in unicast or multicast in IPv4 or IPv6 on a high-bandwidth network. It doesn’t need any external codec or program to work.

VLC Media Player 0.9.9a Review
When it comes to video files, nothing is ever as easy as it should be. Thankfully, VLC Media Player offers a one-stop solution for the file-format problem. The program supports playback of OGG, MP2, MP3, MP4, DivX, DVD, and a whole slew of other file types. In addition, it also can function as a streaming media server. Because of its open-source foundation, VLC Media Player evolves quickly, with new features and fixes released frequently.

Though the interface varies from platform to platform, the sparseness of the Mac version leaves plenty to be desired. The skinned mode perks things up slightly, but the program seems to suffer from unpredictable behavior when skinned. Also, the basic task of opening a file is far more confusing than it should be; the program gives you several options, including the head-scratching Quick Open File. Overall, though, VLC Media Player is a must-have application for its ability to open just about any type of video file you throw at it.

Other features include dynamic querying, push-proxy support for connecting through firewalls, the ability to preview files while downloading, advanced techniques for locating rare files, and an extremely intuitive user interface.

LimeWire 5.2.3 Review
From its start as a post-Napster clone to its leading role as the quintessential Gnutella client, LimeWire has been one of the highest-profile P2P applications for Mac. The latest version further ups the ante with a combination of new features, an updated interface, and better all-around performance.

On the surface, the refined and zippier Java interface houses some snazzy new icons and a few new features, including a connection-quality meter and a button matrix for zeroing in on specific file types. The search interface now sports a progress bar, and file information–such as artist and album–is more clearly displayed. The improved network performance gave us considerably more search results than previous versions and a more reliable downloading experience (for a P2P client, that is). This latest version also feels more nimble despite its inherently resource-heavy Java-based foundation. We like the What’s New feature, which lists files recently added to the network. The check box to filter out adult content also is a nice touch.

The new features and overall functionality make this by far the most mature version of LimeWire to date. Despite the typical performance flaws found in all file-sharing clients, this latest version continues to offer solid performance and good looks across the board.

Transmission 1.72 Information

Transmission is a cross-platform BitTorrent client that is:
Easy.

Transmission is designed from the ground up to balance power with simplicity. We’ve set initial preferences so things “Just Work”, while advanced features like watch directories, bad peer blocking, and the web interface can be configured with just a few clicks. When Ubuntu chose Transmission as its default BitTorrent client, one of the most-cited reasons was its easy learning curve.
Lean.

With few dependencies and written in C, Transmission has the lowest memory footprint of any BitTorrent client we’ve seen. It’s also the client of choice on low-memory hardware. Imageshack chose Transmission for its BitTorrent farms because the competition “requires amounts of memory several times greater than Transmission”.
Native.

Unlike some cross-platform programs, Transmission seamlessly integrates with your operating system. The Mac OS X interface is written in Objective-C and uses Growl notifications and dock badging to keep you informed.

“It’s fast, it’s extremely lightweight, and — even though it’s available for a variety of platforms — it behaves just as you’d expect a Mac program to.”
Macworld, naming Transmission a “Mac Gem”

The GTK+ interface has been carefully written with the GNOME Human Interface Guidelines in mind. It uses libnotify for torrent notification, DBUS for hibernation management, and GIO for watch directories.
Powerful.

Transmission has the features you expect in a BitTorrent client: encryption, a web-based interface, peer exchange, UPnP and NAT-PMP port forwarding, web seed support, watch directories, tracker editing, global and per-torrent speed limits, and more.
Free.

Transmission is free software. All its code is freely available online and is licensed under either the GNU Public License v2 or the MIT License. The development team welcomes anyone who is interested in contributing code, documentation, translations, or other help.
